The basics

1. You're the host. Open Songly on the TV / laptop everyone can see and hear. The lobby shows a QR code and a 5-character room code.
2. Players join from their phones by scanning the QR, or by going to songly.fun/join and typing the room code. Each picks a name and an animal avatar.
3. Pick a pack: All songs (default, no account needed), one of tonight's picks under the QR code, or tap Packs… for every themed pack, community pack and your own quizzes.
4. Hit START. A 30-second clip plays; everyone races to answer the question (year, decade, artist, etc.) on their phone. Faster correct answers score more points.
5. After the last song, the highest score wins. Hit PLAY AGAIN for a rematch, or HOME to change the settings.

Music sources

All songs (default, no account needed) — a curated catalog spanning pop, rock, hip-hop, R&B, Latin, indie and more, growing over time. Tap START GAME and you're playing. Use the genre and era filters to shape it.

Themed packs — hand-curated sets like 🎸 Classic Rock, 🕰️ Golden Oldies, 📼 80s Party and the rotating Pack of the Day.

Community packs — quizzes other Songly hosts made public. Browse them from the lobby or the ☰ menu; each shows its play count.

My quiz — sign in, build a custom song list (any artist, any year), mark it "Ready", and pick it in the lobby. Each song is checked for a playable preview when you add it, so quizzes are always game-ready.

Tips

• Use a single device with speakers + screen as the host. Phones are for players.
• Playing alone or short on phones? Set “Are you also playing?” to “Yes, count me in” and answer on the host screen.
• Custom-quiz songs play instantly because previews are cached when you add the song.
• Question variety in Game Settings: Year only, Mixed, or No year (artist and title only).
